Church Yard Information

The Churchyard is maintained by volunteers, who work tireless to provide a well maintained and peaceful garden. There is no cost for this but we do ask that anyone who owns a grave in the Churchyard considers making a small donation once a year.

In order to do this, or for any other Churchyard enquiries, please contact Doris Ainscough on 01942 866616. Please see church yard rules below:

Graves

  • The Vicar’s permission must be obtained before anything is placed in the churchyard
  • The cremated remains of a loved one must be interred by the Vicar/Priest
  • The scattering of ashes in the Churchyard is not allowed
  • The cremated remains cannot be buried in a new grave
  • The maximum number of caskets in any one grave is 8
  • The combined height of a Headstone must not be more that 39” including the base
  • All Headstones should be made of stone – marble/granite
  • The Church Council ruling is one Vase/Pot only per grave in addition to that/those incorporated in the base of the Headstone
  • For health and safety reasons, broken vases and/or pots will be removed without permission
  • Troughs or ornamental vases are not allowed
  • Kerb stones are not permitted
  • Shrubs, bedding plants, bulbs etc., are not allowed on graves

When a grave is new and a Headstone is awaited you may wish to mark the grave with a vase or pot; however, please do no use glass as this breaks easily (sometimes in the frost) and makes mowing and strimming very dangerous; instead please us plastic or pot

Garden of Remembrance

  • Headstones, crosses, plaques, vases, etc., are not allowed in the Garden of Remembrance
  • Double depths for caskets are not allowed
